We played in Arunachal Pradesh , in Ittanagar almost inaccessible by road and there was mind blowing sound and lights organized out there…
We played in Thiruchinapalli (Trichy), Tamil Nadu where they had great sound and lights…
We played in Pilani, a small village in the Rajasthan desert and there was great sound and lights…
We played for the fisher folk at the Chinese fishing nets in Cochin beach where we there was great sound…
It can’t be that Narendra Modi’s ultra developed capital city of Ahmedabad does not have a sound system that Ittanagar and Trichinnapalli doesn’t have. I mean c’mon. You guys voted for development right! Don’t put the guy to shame.
We have worked in Sound Companies as crew members, sound engineers and sound consultants. We have a professional sound engineer traveling with us who knows what the basic needs for a live band to play are. You guys screwed up big time by taking a Band for granted.
You know, we understand how things screw up in the college scene, we have been there, done that and understand how it gets with sponsors etc. Its tough. Especially when you screw up.
There we were trying our best to find alternate sound to help you and your fest. In fact we had reached an agreement with some Jai Bhavani Sound Ltd (JBL sound as we called it, who was somewhat better than the home made nonsense sound you so wonderfully organized for us). We were ready to play the same night or even stay over one more day and play the next evening along with Silk Route but with better sound. But no!. This is pure teri maaki stuff. Understandable I guess college kids ..young and full of cum… little josh and all must be there.
Say sorry baba, thats all it takes. Accept your mistakes… didn’t your parents teach you that as kids?
So instead of saying sorry and try to work something out, what did you guys do? You call us late at night and very politely inform us of how important you are and who you know and who we don’t know… “aaaana, kudhira tengakola”… etc etc. Kind of like Narendra Modi meets Bollywood movie style. Bai wah! Unfortunately in the South we don’t fall for that kind of shit. So we stayed put in the hotel and watched an awesome movie “Wild Hogs”. Go catch it if possible. In a strange way that movie had some similarities to what was going on with us that evening.
One of the many threats we got during this episode was that the person who made our hotel bookings actually built the Ahmedabad Airport and has so much pull that he can screw everybody and anybody big time. This goondaism shit may work for you guys in that part of town. But India is not only about that. We are trying very hard to be a developed nation, not just through developed roads and infrastructure but through Developed Minds. You kids have a long way to go before you build anything in this world with this kind of ‘architecture studies’.
Wake up !
Its not that we couldn’t stay longer and fight for our money. Its just we have many other things to do besides fighting for peanuts with college kids.
So if you have an iota of dignity in you then return the money you owe us. Send a cheque for 50K in the name of “Thermal and a Quarter”. And reply to this post after that.
Hum tumhara khoon pee jayenga – aaana kudhira tengakola ….
